Are Rajputs of Scythian Origin

Are Rajputs of Scythian origin?

Claim: As per British colonial annalist James Tod, Rajputs are of Scythian origin and came to India around 5th century AD.

Fact: James Tod did make that claim. Except he himself admitted that he has no evidence for it. And he tried to make up for the lack of evidence by making unreasonable identifications. He tried to convince Rajputs that Rajputs and the British shared a common origin. He proclaimed that both Rajputs and the British were descended from Scythians. For Tod, Rajputs were ancient British. He even tried to convert the house of Mewar.
