Ban on Islamic prayer (Namaz) in public

  1. In the UAE, namaz on public property is illegal
  2. Use of loudspeakers by mosques is restricted in Saudi Arabia for only first two out of five prayers in a day.
  3. Namaz in public is illegal in China. Copies of prayer mats and Quran are confasicated by the authorities.
  4. When the loudspeakers first came to India, there was a religious decree (fatwa) against using them for call to prayers. However, they become fairly prominent afterwards.
