Buttons
What you see in this picture are the earliest known Buttons in the history of mankind.
They have been excavated from the Indus Valley Civilization (referred to by some people as “Sindhu Sarasvati civilization”) of Ancient India.
In his book “An encyclopedia of the history of technology” (Routledge Press 1990), noted Historian Ian McNeil writes: “The button, in fact, was originally used more as an ornament than as a fastening, the earliest known being found at Mohenjo-Daro in the Indus valley. It is made of a curved shell and about 5000 years old.”
