Saint Valentine
February 14 is commemorated for a Christian Bishop and doctor named Saint Valentine who died on February 14, 269 CE. He was a fanatic Christian who did not treat his Non-Christian patients because he believed they deserved death and hellfire. He refused to treat his own mother when she was sick because she would not abandon the worship of Jupiter who was their tutelary deity. She ultimately died. Saint Valentine was a doctor and bishop. Once, he found out that an unmarried patient of his was pregnant. He took a lance and beheaded her, killing both the mother and her child. This was because any sort of conception outside of wedlock was considered a sin punishable with death by him.
