Virji Vora
The English depended on Virji Vora for their financial survival. He used to give them loans of 100,000 whenever they were facing an economic crisis. EIC letters admit that their factories were kept alive only by his loans. In fact, in the 17th century, the British built many of their early roads, buildings, passageways, and markets in London from loans given to them by Indian merchants.
